Live a Happier Life During Menopause

6 Tips to Live a Happier Life During Menopause

Menopause can be a stressful time for us all, but often it’s the simple things that can make a huge difference to our everyday lives and the happiness we feel.

We typically feel better when we’re in control, when we’re free and our minds are uncluttered. It’s not realistic to be in control of everything around us, however, these six tips should help you approach life with a much better outlook.

1. Get Up Early

If we’re feeling low it’s very easy to stay in bed for an extra couple of hours, or put off getting dressed while we lounge about the house, especially on the weekend. However, this just stops you getting as much done in the day, or enjoying as much time with your family and friends. Start getting up early and you should notice a positive difference.

2. Do Something Selfless Everyday

Make it a habit to do something kind for someone else every single day. Take out the neighbours bins, or pay someone a compliment. It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture, but daily selfless acts have been proven to increase happiness, plus you’re contributing to someone else’s happiness.

3. De-Clutter

A cluttered house equals a cluttered brain. Too much mess can increase anxiety and stress without you even realising. Throw out old junk, or give away your unwanted items to charity. Keep on top of your house work rather than leaving it all to the last day of the week.

4. Unplug & Recharge

Technology has become a huge part of our lives and it’s great to embrace that and get involved, but there comes a point in the day when you really need to switch off and unplug from all your electronic devices including phones, ipads and yes even the TV! Ironically unplugging means you are able to recharge your own mind.

5. Surround Yourself With Happy People

Who’s the happiest person you know? Now give them a call and arrange to meet them in the next week. Spending more time with your happiest friends and family members is bound to be uplifting and revitalising. If someone in your life brings you down, simply stop spending as much time with them, life is too short to spend it with miserable people.

6. Go For a Brisk Walk

A very important tip if you’ve been stuck in the house all day, getting out for a walk clears the mind. It’s probably the last thing you want to do if you’re feeling low, but honestly the fresh air and the light exercise together can be very relaxing. If you’re trying to make a big decision, a walk should help you gain a better perspective.

Finally, look after your health and always put your health first. That’s the one thing you shouldn’t sacrifice for anything, not a job, a relationship or a hobby; none of those things should come before your health. ‘Being happy’ is easier said than done, but choosing to be happy is the very first step.
